RBH and it's entire portfolio pledge commitment to a four-year sustainability plan this earth day

RBH launches new 'Giving Something Back' initiative which promises to commit to its people, its community and its environment.

Taking accountability for reducing its impact on the environment, RBH will strive to become a carbon neutral management company through reduction, management and offsetting. By setting clear, measurable objectives, the entire portfolio has stringent goals to meet by 2025. The targets are broken down into six core areas of growth, including energy, water, waste, supply chain, travel and buildings.

Specific initiatives to achieve by 2025 will include all hotels and offices gaining Green Tourism accreditation, all single-use plastics to be removed from hotels, a 25% reduction in landfill waste, 100% sustainably sourced fresh produce and a supplier base entirely committed to the company’s sustainable ethos. In addition, all hotels and offices will have electric car charging points, and like-minded suppliers will work in partnership with RBH to develop zero-carbon new build hotels going forwards. As an immediate action, each hotel will support Earth Day’s ‘51 ways to restore our Earth’ by committing to chosen initiatives and encouraging others to do the same.

As part of RBH’s continued commitment to its people, the company vows that 100% of its hotels and offices will achieve Gold Leaf status in its internal Tree of Life Health & Wellbeing Programme, while all employees will be invited to train in eradicating modern slavery from within each of the hotels and respective supply chains. A further pledge has been made to ensure that 50% of its leadership roles across the portfolio will be filled by top performing women.

For the community strand of the initiative, RBH will continue to demonstrate its commitment to charity partnerships, working with 4Louis this year, to support families through miscarriage, still birth and child loss. Every hotel and office will get involved with a local community project and will also partner with at least one local school or college to promote employability skills and careers in hospitality.

Susan Bland, RBH's Managing Director, said:

Our successes as a management company are attributable to our people, our community and our environment, therefore it’s our responsibility to make sure we look after each of these to the best of our ability. This new pledge acts as a catalyst to lead by example, both for our hotels, and for others within the industry. Making ourselves accountable with a clear timeline of achievable results ensures the longevity of our commitment to a positive future for the company and the industry as a whole.”
